Before you register
Registering in MyMedicare with your usual preferred GP practice is voluntary and free, but patients can only be linked to one practice at a time.
If you visit another medical clinic or an Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) for occasional or one-off treatment, please take care not to unintentionally register in MyMedicare with that clinic unless you intend to change your usual preferred GP or practice.
Registering with another GP or practice may affect your continuity of care and eligibility for specific Medicare-supported chronic condition management through your usual preferred GP or practice.
If you are unsure, please ask the clinic you are visiting whether they are requesting MyMedicare registration before signing any forms or providing digital consent.
